Get pumped for your summer workout!

For field hockey athletes, summer is a time for conditioning and getting fit and ready to come to school tryouts in the best shape ever. Your school program does not need to have a formal summer workout program for you to get moving.  High school graduates preparing to play field hockey in college receive workout packets for the summer from their college coaches, with the expectation that athletes keep up if they are to compete for a spot in the Fall.    Jackals alumni Tashani Dickson (Towson University, Northwest HS) created an inspirational video with a few of her teammates, to keep girls playing and get them motivated to work hard this winter.

Need a little push? Click here to check out Tashani's video!

If your school does not have a summer workout program grab your teammates, get to the track, and get moving! Be the one to get your team started on the road to the championships!

Jackals U19 finish 10th in the Nation

The National Indoor Tournament got underway on Friday, March 2nd at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, with the Jackals U19 Midnight coming away with two wins to start.  First up was Viper, a PA Club, who won the Wexford Qualifier.  Hannah Suttle started the scoring on a penalty stroke, chipped in a second goal on a corner, and Alex sent a feed to Anna who scored the final goal in the 3-1 win.  Toward the end of the game a rip shot on a corner sent Piper to the hospital who was out for the second game getting stitches. A fired up Jackals squad determined to keep the streak going for their injured teammate put in six more goals in their 6-3 win over Penn Lanco, who won the Millersville qualifier, and eventually placed second in the B Pool. Scoring came all directions, with goals and assists from Anna, Charlotte, Alex and Hannah S. The Jackals faced three more quality opponents on Saturday, with a loss to WC Eagles 2-3 (we were up 2-0 at one point) , a loss to the eventual pool winner and top Xcalibur team 3-6, and a loss to High Styx Wolfpack (1-5 * we pulled our goalie at 1-3 in attempt to create the offense need to turn to a win). The Jackals rounded out play on Sunday with tie of Jersey Intensity Black (5-5) and a win over Blue Grass Elite (5-2) , ending the tournament with 3-3-1 record, placing 5th in the pool, and tenth in the nation.

U16/19 Updates for Week of Dec 4

Practice this week as scheduled - Monday 4-6pm and Wednesday 4-?  (CFH Annex) depending on when your last game concludes - consult the league schedule. I have begun posting tournament details on the website tournament page. As soon as the coaches provide the indoor team rosters they will be posted, and you will know which tournaments you will be attending. The trickiest ones are the December tournaments - because everything happens very quickly and we have U16 and U19 teams attending NIT qualifier tournaments this month.

Please check back for team updates and to find out if you are scheduled for any of the upcoming tournaments this weekend.  Meanwhile- if you did not recently join US Field Hockey please log in to your account and make sure your membership expires after the end of the winter indoor season (03-15-2012) . I will not be able to roster you on a qualifier team if your membership is not valid.  You must also specify Jackals as your club in your membership record. Please check these two items so that any corrections will not further delay our ability to roster you, once the lists are named.
